Time to Take Sides
When a student studies the discipline of yoga they learn to diffuse their vision, sometimes called softening the gaze. The allows the body and the mind to come together. When vision is diffused nothing is clear. Everything has a soft glow surrounding it - shapes and colours intertwine - one dimension is replaced with another.
When the Schechinah is in exile we are in a permanent state of diffused vision, and it is with our free choice that we see.
It is time to take sides. I side with Israel.
Although I've never been a soldier I've fought many personal battles. In fact, I still am.
I just cannot be apathetic and complacent. Politics aside. I gotta side with Israel.
No matter what happens, we cannot allow another Hitler.
Remember Amalek.

Mindy Ribner is sending out some interesting material. Worth a read and a muse.
Friday July 21st,
Dear Beit Miriam subscribers,
We are at war and this war is being fought on many fronts.
Though this
war is a physical battle, it is ultimately and primarily a spiritual
battle.
We can read the papers, watch television, talk about what is going
on,
offer our opinions about what Israel should or should not do, but
that will
not help anything. We can make a difference by being active in the
spiritual
front of this battle.
From my contact with my readership, I beleive that most of the
readership
of Beit Miriam are light workers. We are the ambassadors of love and
blessing in the world. Our prayer, our meditation and our good deeds
are a
powerful and needed weapon at this time to bring down a higher
consciousness
of light and unity. Volunteer to be a light worker if you do not
already
experience yourself to be one. Stand up and be counted. Your prayers
do make
a difference.
Let each of us take time each day to make a divine connection in
prayer
and meditation. Consider taking on an extra mitzvah to make a stronger
connection with the Divine. Do an additional loving deed to someone
in
need. And most importantly, meditate. We receive important
information and
inspiration during meditation. Most of us already do this, so let's
make it
longer and deeper. Let's gather in small groups and deepen the power
of our
light. Call on the angels of protection. The angel of the Jewish
people is
Michael.
Remember that the Creator of the Universe is before you and
within you at
all times. Everday, stand before God, pray for your needs, for the
peace
of Jerusalem and the sanctity and security of Israel. Pray that the
Shechinah( the Divine Presence) be revealed so that all people
recognize our
underlying love unity with each other. May all hatred dissolve in the
presence of love and light.
You are a channel of light and you can radiate G-d's light to
others and
to the world. Who is to know whose prayers will open the gates of
heaven. It
could be you.
When you quiet your mind and open your heart with holy intention,
you will
receive information and blessing that you can share with others. Be
open to
receive the downpour of blessing available at this time.
Let your heart be filled with love and peace. Let your eyes be
open to
the clear seeing of Tammuz. As we have learned Tammuz is a time of
purification, of seeing through illusions, seeing through deception.
It may
be painful, but if we see the truth, it will ultimately free us.
One important spiritual principle for these days is to reflect on
how what
happens on the outside is a reflection of what is happening on the
inside.
For example, we may feel betrayed by a friend, but upon reflective
meditation, with the eyes of Tammuz, we realize that we have not
listened
or honored ourselves.
Even what is happening is Israel is an expression of Tammuz.
Now, with
the eyes of Tammuz, we see through the lies and deception, and we more
clearly see who the enemy is and its intentions. Soon it will be more
a time
of soul searching, becoming clear about the kind of inner fixing and
healing
needing to take place within Israel itself so that there will be
unity and
peace within her land without having an external enemy to unity the
people.
It is important that we grow through this time and take
responsibility
for what is happening. Israel has external enemies because Israel is
not yet
whole. Healing and transformation on a personal and collective level
will
come by owning our projections rather than blaming others. We as
individuals
and as a collective will do our greatest learning during Tammuz if we
remember this.
I send my love and blessings to everyone. Always, feel free to
drop me
a note from time to timeat Beitmiriam@msn.com. I want to know who you
are. I care about what you
feel and think. It is an intense time. We are all growing and
transforming at this time. Soon we
will have a website on Israel where we can have dialogue and learn
from each
other. And soon, I will have a Beit Miriam website as well. For those
who
are new to the list, please look at Kabbalah Month by Month for more
information about this month of Tammuz. My books, New Age Judaism,
and
Everyday Kabbalah expound on these ideas and offer many powerful
meditation
practices.
Next week, we enter into the new month of Av. I will write more
about this
then, but the first Nine Days are the most intense. Love and
blessings,
Mindy
I include a posting from my friend Rabbi David Zaslow that is good
to read and would be great to say outloud with others.
I affirm my stance with Israel in this time when an aggressive,
terrorist
actions has been committed by an enemy who openly believes that the
existence of
Israel is against their religion.
I affirm the world's call to enforce UN Resolution 1559 that calls
for the
immediate disarmament of Hezbollah.
I affirm and am proud of Israel's attitude of compassion toward the
innocent
Lebanese and Palestinian lives that have been lost.
I affirm my essential repulsion of any war, yet am dedicated to
fulfill the
mitzvah in the Torah to hate evil.
I affirm my participation in the resistance against the global
jihadists who
have hijacked the real Islam, and who have openly declared war
against the
values of freedom, justice, democracy, pluralism, women's rights, and
freedom of
the press.
I affirm the principle of pekuakh nefesh even when paradoxically
expressed
through warfare intended to ultimately save life as was the case
against
Hitler
and Stalin.
I affirm a small glimmer of hope when I see that for the first time in
history the moderate regimes of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt have
shown
some
defacto support for Israel by their clear criticism of Hezbollah's
actions.
I affirm gratitude for the American congress, public, Israeli public,
and
many groups within the Israeli peace movement who are standing firm
with
Israel.
I affirm my hope for a future when all Arab nations will be the first
to
repudiate terrorism, terrorist groups, and to affirm women's rights,
minority
rights, and pluralism.
I affirm the future when the children of Israel and Ishmael will live
in
peace as cousins the words of the prophets will be fulfilled about the
highway
that will be built from Egypt to Syria with Israel in the middle, and
all
blessed
as children of the Living G-d.
Shabbat shalom, Rabbi David Zaslow
