The Month of Elul - Virgo
Today is 1 Elul 5766.
Elul - Virgo is the 6th month of the Hebrew calendar. Tishrei - Libra - the month with all the High Holy Days - The Days of Awe - is the 7th month.
Elul, spelled aleph lamed vav lamed and is an anacronym for
Ani l'dodi v'dodi li - I am my beloved and my beloved is mine from Song of Songs.
In Judaism it is a month of repentance and teshuva, a cleansing preparation for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kipper.
Prayers called 'selichot' - prayers for forgiveness - are added for the 30 day period of Elul as are- the sounding of the shofar and Psalm 27. (I'll post the Psalm as a comment),
This is just for the men - they need to prepare their vessels.
The Schechinah is no longer in exile. She's revealed , and with that comes the essence of the energy of the divine feminine.
Virgos are known to be detail oriented.
The esoteric explanation of the energy of Elul is in the letter yud - the letter for the month.
Yud is the smallest letter of the hebrew aleph bet, gematria 10, the first letter of the tetragrammaton. During Elul we are given the opportuinty to connect to the tip of the yud.
What is the tip of the yud? It is the smallest tiniest point - the point from which all-nes emerged, the point of access.
If we look at the letter tet, the letter for the month of Av, we can see that it is the yud which is pointed to the inner.
The gematria is 10.
The yud is our entry to the initial point of manifestation through which the infinite and the finite exist simultaneously.
Rabbi G says :
"All created form begins with an essential point of energy and lifeforce, the point of the letter yud. "
The sign for the month of Elul is Virgo, the Virgin - betulah in hebrew -, the sense is action and the organ is the left hand.
The ruling planet is Mercury, letter reish. Mercury is also the planet for Sivan, Gemini.
Speaking of planets, Pluto is making waves. The scientists are re-defining what a planet is.
IAU Resolution:Definition of a Planet in the Solar System
Contemporary observations are changing our understanding of planetary systems, and it is important that our nomenclature for objects reflect our current understanding. This applies, in particular, to the designation 'planets'. The word 'planet' originally described 'wanderers' that were known only as moving lights in the sky.
Recent discoveries lead us to create a new definition, which we can make using currently available scientific information.
RESOLUTION 5A
The IAU therefore resolves that planets and other bodies in our Solar System be defined into three distinct categories in the following way:
(1) A planet1 is a celestial body that
(a) is in orbit around the Sun,
(b) has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape, and
(c) has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit.
(2) A dwarf planet is a celestial body that
(a) is in orbit around the Sun,
(b) has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape2,
(c) has not cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit, and (d) is not a satellite.
(3) All other objects3 orbiting the Sun shall be referred to collectively as "Small Solar System Bodies".
1The eight planets are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
2An IAU process will be established to assign borderline objects into either dwarf planet and other categories.
3These currently include most of the Solar System asteroids, most Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs), comets, and other small bodies.
IAU Resolution: Pluto
RESOLUTION 6AThe IAU further resolves:
Pluto is a dwarf planet by the above definition and is recognized as the prototype of a new category of trans-Neptunian objects.
RESOLUTION 6BThe following sentence is added to Resolution 6A:
This category is to be called "plutonian objects."
Pluto hasn't changed, only the definition has changed. As more information about what exist comes in, the definitations and classifications also have to change. What has been concealed is now being revealed.
My friend Esther in NYC had a very interesting kabbalistic explanation of why Pluto was out of the planet category.
The reclassification of Pluto is an energy phenomonon, a casting aside of all the negative energy connotations associated with Pluto.
The regenerative cycle is in play. Saying that Pluto is no longer a planet is saying that it is now something else. A veil is removed to let the regenerative light cycle take hold, giving us a collective consciousness in which we can live without fear of decay. We have the capability. By removing the veil we are able to see the collective consciousness. That is to say that Pluto and consciousness are each going their separate ways. Fascinating.
So actually Pluto being demoted as a planet and being reclassified as something else is a reflection of a universal energy phenomonon of revelation and cosmic regeneration.
Whatever category Pluto is being put into, it is still a part of the solar system.
This week's Torah portion is Shoftim.
