He was my passion throughout my teenage years.

I was at a concert, in the dream, and I heard him sing and saw him sing and smelled the cigarette and pot smoke.

I don't consider myself to be a blogger anymore.

But this fascinating story deserves a post.

Especially since I've been in Sci Fi Heaven becuase Sci Fi channel is showing "Threshold", a series which started on ABC I believe, anyway, one of the major 3 non cable networks, about a year ago and then disappeared. I thought that the program was fabulous, and now on Monday nights they're replaying it - 3 episodes back to back. Alien nano threat. Changing our DNA structure from a double helix to a triple helix.

Dr Wickramasinghe thinks life could have originated in spaceIn July 2001, a mysterious red rain started falling over a large area of southern India.

Locals believed that it foretold the end of the world, though the official explanation was that it was desert dust that had blown over from Arabia.

But one scientist in the area, Dr Godfrey Louis, was convinced there was something much more unusual going on.

Not only did Dr Louis discover that there were tiny biological cells present, but because they did not appear to contain DNA, the essential component of all life on Earth, he reasoned they must be alien lifeforms.

"This staggering claim is that this is possibly extraterrestrial. That is a big claim I know, but all the experiments are supporting this claim," said Dr Louis.

His remarkable work has set in motion a chain of events with scientists around the world debating the origin of these mysterious cells.

The main reason why Dr Louis's ideas have not been immediately laughed out of court is because they tie in with a theory promoted by two UK scientists ever since the 1960s.

Space qualified

The late Sir Fred Hoyle and Professor Chandra Wickramasinghe have been the champions of "Panspermia", the idea that life on Earth originated on another planet.

They speculate that life was first brought here on the back of a comet. Over the last decade, Panspermia is being taken ever more seriously.

The US space agency (Nasa) is now increasingly interested in searching for extra-terrestrial life.
A new robotic submarine is being developed to explore the oceans of one of Jupiter's moons. This submarine is on test at the moment in a lake in Texas.

Finding life elsewhere in the Solar System would be a vital bolster to the Panspermia theory.
Another section of Nasa is devoted to the study of bacteria found on Earth that can survive extreme conditions.

Finding these types of bacteria makes it more likely that micro-organism could survive the hardships of travelling through space on the back of a meteoroid.

Professor Wickramasinghe explained: "Bacteria have got to endure the extreme cold of space, the vacuum of space, ultraviolet radiation, cosmic rays, X-rays.
"That sounds like a tall order but bacteria do that. From what we know survival out in space is more or less ensured. Bacteria seem to me to be born space travellers."

Last summer, Horizon had exclusive access to a trip taken by Professor Wickramasinghe to India to investigate at first hand the red rain phenomenon.
He met Dr Louis and together they visited the people who had witnessed the red rain.
He was able to see the recent work of Dr Louis which shows that the red rain can replicate at 300C, an essential attribute of a space micro-organism that might have to endure extreme temperatures.

Bacteria might survive the journey through spaceAll this has convinced Professor Wickramasinghe that the red rain is a form of alien life.

"Before I came I had grave doubts as to whether the red rain was really an indication of life coming from space; new life coming from space," he said.
"But on reflection and after talking to Godfrey, I think I would now fairly firmly believe that it did represent an invasion of microbes from space."

Many scientists remain highly sceptical, however, but if Wickramasinghe and Louis are correct it will be the strongest evidence so far that the theory of Panspermia might be true.

It also raises the intriguing possibility that if life first originated on another planet then it must mean all Earth organisms, including humans, evolved from alien life.

Last night I watched a bit of the movie "Beyond the Sea"

which stars Kevin Spacey as Bobby Darin - Mr. Spacey sings all of Bobby's songs. I've always been a big Bobby Darin fan, but the movie kind of bored me. The main plot line is the relationship between Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee, played by Kate Bosworth.

This morning I received an email from a friend of mine that I'm not feeling too connected with right now.

I've been going into a chat on a Jewish dating service site. This one is for free.
Last night, there were 5 of us on. 5 women, ages 44-55. I was the oldest. We were from New York, Florida, Toronto, LA and Australia. No men of course. We chatted about it. We all felt less randomly alone.

Tonight starts the High Holy Day of Yom Kippur.
Exoterically it revolves around food. You eat, you fast, you break fast.
The esoteric explanation is very esoteric. It is an accessing of the Oneness, The Light of Binah.

'Kol Nidre' is the statement which is sung of the Eve of Yom Kippur. I still have a cassette of Neil Diamond's 'The Jazz Singer', on which he sings Kol Nidre.

Saturn New Ring Discovered

The Cassini spacecraft has identified a faint, previously unknown ring circling the giant planet Saturn.
It appears to be composed of material blasted off the surface of two saturnian moons by meteoroid impacts.
The moons Janus and Epimetheus may be too small to hold on to dust kicked out by these impacts, so it escapes into space, spreading out into a ring.
The tenuous, wispy ring coincides with the orbits of these two moons, mission scientists noted.

Awe is the space between the sephirot. During the Days of Awe which are the 10 days between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, what is happening is that the awe, the spaces between the multi dimensionality of the sephirot, shrink. I've been reading other Jew blogs. It seems that a lot of Jews have had strange experiences this Rosh Hashana. The state is that of balance, and the scale is being weighed.
The religious interpretations upset me. I'm being judged for my wickedness, and where the scales fall will determine whether I live for another year. That seems to be entirely fear based.

I'm not a happy person. I've never been a happy person. I am a good actress and I fool people well. What I am is an ultra-sensitive who has been forced into a type of isolated solitude because of her belief system. And lonliness because of lack of connections.
Connection to physical beings equates to loss in my own personal life because

I'm so full of love that it hurts me. I'm looked upon as a freakazoid because I live and think outside the box. The box isn't a good place for me to be. It killed me once.

'The wierdest type of supernova yet"
An exploding star that seems to contravene the laws of physics is puzzling astronomers.
The supernova is twice the brightness expected, suggesting it arose from a star much too massive to exist.
Past observations of supernovae led to the discovery that the Universe's expansion is speeding up.
The findings could affect their use as probes of dark energy, the mysterious entity behind the expansion, scientists report in the journal Nature.
'Pandora's box'
The object, known as SNLS-03D3bb, was discovered in April 2003, in a small, young, star-forming galaxy. It is classified as a type 1a supernova, based on chemicals detected in the atmosphere around it.
Type 1a supernovae are thought to be reliable distance indicators because they have a standard amount of fuel
Peter Nugent, astrophysicist
Type 1a supernovae have always been regarded as uniform in brightness and distances are traditionally calculated on how bright they appear to be through telescopes.
They are thought to form when a white dwarf - the remains of a low or medium mass star - pulls enough matter from a nearby companion star to explode in a violent thermonuclear reaction.
According to the Indian physicist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, no white dwarf can be more massive than about 1.4 solar masses before it self destructs. SNLS-03D3bb, however, appears to contravene this rule.
"Type 1a supernovae are thought to be reliable distance indicators because they have a standard amount of fuel - the carbon and oxygen in a white dwarf star - and they have a uniform trigger," said Peter Nugent, an astrophysicist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California, who worked on the study.
"They are predicted to explode when the mass of the white dwarf nears the Chandrasekhar mass, which is about 1.4 times the mass of our Sun.
"The fact that SNLS-03D3bb is well over that mass kind of opens up a Pandora's box."
'Standard candles'
Astronomers now have to explain how a white dwarf could grow so massive. One possibility is that two white dwarfs could spiral together and eventually merge.
Another, more likely explanation, is that matter accumulated by a white dwarf from a companion star could add extra angular momentum causing it to rotate more rapidly.
This would provide extra support against gravity and allow the white dwarf to become extra-massive before exploding.
Astronomers are now considering whether objects such as SNLS-03D3bb should be screened out in cosmological studies, to avoid them "contaminating" results.
"As this supernova does not obey the relations that allow type 1a supernovae to be calibrated as standard candles, and as no counterparts have been found at low redshift, future cosmology studies will have to consider possible contamination from such events," the authors write in Nature.

SOLAR ECLIPSE: There's an annular solar eclipse tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 22nd. It begins at 0930 UT when the sun, not an orb but a ring, rises over Surinam and Guyana.
Annular eclipses occur when the Moon passes straight in front of the sun but fails to cover the entire solar disk. A sliver of sun pokes out in all directions producing a ring of fire.
Unfortunately, almost all of Friday's eclipse takes place over uninhabited ocean. The narrow red line in this map traces the "path of annularity." After leaving French Guiana, it touches nothing solid for thousands of miles. Only in the tiniest countries of South America will the ring of fire be visible from land.
Elsewhere, the sun will appear as a crescent, a result of the Moon crossing off-center. In Brazil and Argentina, people will experience a crescent sunrise. The catalyst for the post is a snake.
This morning.
Outside the pool screen, in the area that is totally overgrown because I can't find anybody to do the clean up for me now, and I won't do it myself. Reason - bugs and snakes.
This was a Florida variety garden snake. Black. The width of a garden hose. This one was LONG LONG - about 5 ft. He slithered between myself and the screen door to enclosed safety and I screamed. The snake was just going back to its place. But I freaked. Screamed. Screamed. My neighbor came out back, B'H for that, even though she has stopped any inter connection between the two of us for reasons unbeknownst to me. Semi unbeknownst. I can make an assumption. That's all. Anyway.
The LONG black garden snake brought forth all my fear and vulernability because of the state of isolation I find myself in. I can take care of myself. I've been doing it.
But
and there's the big
BUT
It ain't working for me no more. Oy.
And I don't know how to fix it.

I've switched my approach to blogging. At first I thought that it would manifest into a kind of internet intellegensia - so many of us needing to put our thoughts out there. "Out there" is the key term here. Where is "Out there". It implies, not here.
Well then, where?
In the bytes and the nano bytes of the www and internetdom. Causing a quantum effect by their very existence in physical form.
It was bothering me that I have no blog readers. That's from my perspective. If there are people who read my blog, I don't know about it.
I started blogging as a way to do a little teaching, in the endless attempt to present data pointing to the interconnectness of all things.
I have data today.

Be what as it may, it is what it is.
Taking the " I ME EGO" out of blogging, I still believe in it as a manifestion of energy consciousness.
So
here we go.
During this month of Elul I've been studying a lot. 'Tis the time to do so. And in my never ending quest to get to the bottom of the spiritual essence of the basis of religion whithout the dogma, I've done some intelligent Torah midrash.
When I read it, I astound myself. I'm so much more adept now with Hebrew and the letters, the way the letters form the words and the way the words interconnect.
I believe in the energy of the Hebrew letters. They are vessels for energy, and they all vibrate at a known frequency which one can connect to.
And I know that when I do Torah on Shabbat, I get high. Very high. So something definitely is happening.
I won't be posting my musings upon the letter yud because there is too much fore-knowledge required and it isn't something one can put simply.
The tip of the yud is the connection to the World of Atzilut - The World of Emanation.
That's upward motion.

RETURN OF A SUNSPOT: Remember photogenic sunspot 904? It's back. After a two-week journey around the far side of the sun, 904 is emerging again over the sun's eastern limb.
When last we saw it, sunspot 904 was decaying, a process that probably continued on the sun's farside. So it may not be as photogenic as before. We'll know soon enough; the sun's rotation is turning the spot toward Earth for a face-on view.

"They" are finally admitting that the explosion of the World Trade Center was toxic.
And the substances are still there. Floated downwards, in the subways and the sidewalk cracks and all over. I knew back then because I was going into the City a lot before I moved down here to Fla. It was like breathing in cracked glass. If I went in for more than 2 days in a row - I was driving in, no more public transportion - I would develop severe breathing symptoms.
Very severe. So severe that I took to wearing a SARS (remember that?) mask when I drove in.
At the time, I was in contact with a lot of people. I said it. Nobody listened. Everybody said I was whatever.

The largest health study yet of the thousands of workers who labored at ground zero shows that the impact of the rescue and recovery effort on their health has been more widespread and persistent than previously thought, and is likely to linger far into the future.
The study, released yesterday by doctors at Mount Sinai Medical Center, is expected to erase any lingering doubts about the connection between dust from the trade center and numerous diseases that the workers have reported suffering. It is also expected to increase pressure on the federal government to provide health care for sick workers who do not have health insurance.
Most of the ground zero workers in the study who reported trouble breathing while working there were still having those problems up to two and a half years later, an indication that the illnesses are becoming chronic and are not likely to improve over time. Some of them worked without face masks, or with flimsy ones. “There should no longer be any doubt about the health effects of the World Trade Center disaster,” said Dr. Robin Herbert, co-director of Mount Sinai’s World Trade Center Worker and Volunteer Medical Screening Program. “Our patients are sick, and they will need ongoing care for the rest of their lives.”
Dr. Herbert called the findings, which will be published tomorrow in Environmental Health Perspectives, the journal of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, “very worrisome,” especially because 40 percent of those who went to Mount Sinai for medical screening did not have health insurance, and will thus not get proper medical care. The Mount Sinai results found, as studies done by the New York City Fire Department also have, that those who showed up in the first hours and days after the twin towers collapsed have the worst medical problems. Seventy percent of the workers in the study arrived at the site between Sept. 11 and Sept. 13.
Mount Sinai’s screening and monitoring program, which excludes New York firefighters, who are tested in a separate program, run by the New York Fire Department, covers law enforcement officers, transit workers, telecommunications workers, volunteers and others who worked at ground zero and at the Fresh Kills landfill, where debris was taken.

Self-medicating with cigarettes
Epidemiological studies have hinted at nicotine’s therapeutic potential. During the 1980s, several found that smokers had lower rates of Parkinson’s disease than nonsmokers. Epidemiologists also validated what many mental health practitioners have long noticed: The smoking rate among people with schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety disorders is far higher than average. It’s widely believed that people with certain mental health problems are self-medicating with cigarettes because the nicotine helps their minds function better.
A most rewarding experience
Although the number of smokers is decreasing, smoking still accounts for roughly 1 in 7 deaths in the United States (1 in 3 between the ages of 35 and 70). And tobacco — particularly when smoked — is highly addictive. The cigarette sends the nicotine straight to the lungs, where it’s absorbed by the blood, carried to the heart, and pumped up to the brain. One aspect of addiction is withdrawal, and the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal usually begin within hours and consist of craving, irritability, anxiety, restlessness, and increased appetite. The craving may last for months — even years.
The psychological effects of nicotine at first seem contradictory: increasing alertness while providing a sense of relaxation and calm. One possible explanation is that the effect varies with the user’s initial state. For someone who’s agitated, nicotine has a calming effect. For someone who isn’t, it heightens alertness. This difference may also help explain why nicotine, unlike many other addictive drugs, doesn’t behave in a simple additive manner as the dose increases.

Blogging has been leaving a bitter taste in my mouth lately.
For whatever reason.

Right now the mowing man is here.
All he does is mow.
All my bushes and palms and especially the split leaf phils are totally overgrown. But all the mowers do is mow. That's strange to me, because back in the Garden State, my gardener took pride in his work, and wanted everything to look nice. Here in Fla, they don't care what it looks like, they just mow. That's the way it is. This is my 3rd mower man since I've been here. The first two I used to speak to. This one I hide from. I just leave him phone messages and he doesn't answer me. They're all the same. Too much sun on their crown chakras, bless them. And what is even stranger is that everybody has a different mower man. A song just played through my brain - Jim Morrision - people are strange when you're a stranger.

There was an interesting piece of data in one of the Ari's discourses on Shoftim (from the above link).
" G-d Answered them (the angels):"Is there any peace in the world, then? Since there is no peace, there is nothing".
"Itis stated in the Mishna that peace is the vessel for all blessing, meaning that without peace there is no point in G-d bestowing His blessing on the world inasmuch as there is no vessel to contain it, it will just dissipate".
I get that part.
When I give the Hebrew letters and the explanations, it is based on the kabbalistic teachings that the Hebrew letters are vessels for light and energy. Light needs a vessel. So it is geometric that if there is no peace, which is its own vessel, there will be no blessing. This quantumly extends to the theorum that therefore the vessel of peace much be created.
A total paradox. especially since this portion is filled with judgement and punishments. Sometimes I just don't get it. I do dig the vessel parts.
There's also a lot about Da'at in the teachings. Da'at is my personal favourite sephirot. Usually I spin way out with da'at, but I didn't get it today.

The esoteric explanation of the energy of Elul is in the letter yud - the letter for the month.
Yud is the smallest letter of the hebrew aleph bet, gematria 10, the first letter of the tetragrammaton. During Elul we are given the opportuinty to connect to the tip of the yud.
What is the tip of the yud? It is the smallest tiniest point - the point from which all-nes emerged, the point of access.
If we look at the letter tet, the letter for the month of Av, we can see that it is the yud which is pointed to the inner.
The gematria is 10.

The yud is our entry to the initial point of manifestation through which the infinite and the finite exist simultaneously.
Rabbi G says :
"All created form begins with an essential point of energy and lifeforce, the point of the letter yud. "

The sign for the month of Elul is Virgo, the Virgin - betulah in hebrew -, the sense is action and the organ is the left hand.
The ruling planet is Mercury, letter reish. Mercury is also the planet for Sivan, Gemini.

Speaking of planets, Pluto is making waves. The scientists are re-defining what a planet is.

My friend Esther in NYC had a very interesting kabbalistic explanation of why Pluto was out of the planet category.
The reclassification of Pluto is an energy phenomonon, a casting aside of all the negative energy connotations associated with Pluto.
The regenerative cycle is in play. Saying that Pluto is no longer a planet is saying that it is now something else. A veil is removed to let the regenerative light cycle take hold, giving us a collective consciousness in which we can live without fear of decay. We have the capability. By removing the veil we are able to see the collective consciousness. That is to say that Pluto and consciousness are each going their separate ways. Fascinating.

So actually Pluto being demoted as a planet and being reclassified as something else is a reflection of a universal energy phenomonon of revelation and cosmic regeneration.
Whatever category Pluto is being put into, it is still a part of the solar system.

One effect I've noticed from the Electro Magnetic Storm from Sunspot 904 is that batteries are draining quickly.
Has anybody else noticed it?

Unfortunately for photographers (and fans of Star Trek) sunspot 904 is approaching the sun's western limb. On Monday it will go over the edge and disappear from view. Catch it while you can!

A coronal mass ejection (CME, movie) is heading toward Earth and could spark a geomagnetic storm when it arrives on August 18th or 19th. The cloud was hurled into space yesterday by a C3-class explosion in the magnetic field of sunspot 904. Sky watchers, prepare for auroras.

This is just a mini flare - they still expect an M-class, but as we've seen by following Sunspot 904, the unexpected is what is manifesting.

Same with life. And I'm certainly not idol worshiping the sun. I'm looking at it as a reflection of macrocosm to microcosm. The pictures and the astromonical accounts only deal with what can be seen and measured. We know that there is more than that. This weeks Torah portion is Re'eh - 'to see'. Re'eh is the portion that is read before Rosh Chodesh Elul. Ya gotta love it. Once again it is necessary to ignite that inner flame in order to be able to perceive that which is, yet cannot be seen.
Most people have become intolerably egocentric. Not only do they not consider the possibility of a bigger picture, or being part of a bigger picture, but, as the global condition becomes more unstable they turn more towards this egocentric view of the universe.
What is visible is not all that there is. I'm glad for what is visible - the pictures are unbelievably fantastic. Bless these people who have the digital astronomical photgraphy equipment. They're great. Love 'em. Makes me want to paint it.

Quantum physics has progressed from the particle theory, to wave to string to super-string. They've defined 10 dimensions. They're still missing the 11th, which is Da'at, the concealed sephirot. The other morning when Merlin, my tiger tabby, knocked over everything on my computer desk, and I mean everything, I had to clean up all my pieces of paper upon which I scribble my musings. I came upon notes for an old post on esotericalspiritualconscious blog about the colour green, and how humans perceive colour. Colour is wavelengths. This is how it goes with wavelengths. Green's visable wavelength is 510 nm. Grass appears green because all other visible spectrum colours are absorbed, leaveing the green wavelength reflected. We're seeing the reflection, not the absorption. The short and long wave cones in the eye can see more gradients of the colour green than any other colour.
What we see is dependant upon our experiences. If somebody had never seen the colour green before, and they saw it for the first time, their visual cortex could not attach any meaning to it.

Everybody is seeking that. Politics shows how easily the ego is corrupted. In the Middle East crisis, the manifestation of the effect backfired. Now Mr. Hezbollah has emerged as a strong powerful and rich leader. I don't think that's what the political manipulators had in mind, but then again, maybe yes.

I'm obsessing with seeds. I need to have an obession. I admit it. Back in Jersey I grew herbs from seed. Here in Florida, I figured I could grow outside. Wrong. I can't grown anything outside the screens because it is just too buggy for me. Inside the screened pool area, herbs grow but they get buggy pretty quickly. Florida also has about a trillion different kinds of mold. I found my seed packet, and decided to pot them inside. I love it. I look at them and talk to them and blow on them. A fine obsession. Then you get little seedlings.

We're all still seedlings. We go through our phases of existence in the illusion of time just like Sunspot 904. And so as it goes, we take our places amongs the causes and effects.

Half of Sunspot 904 is going away. This was not expected. Ha. What do they know what to expect anyway?

They're talking about adding 3 planets to our ' solar system' .

Man's visual perception is expanding, therefore he feels the universe must expand with it, cause man in general thinks very highly of himself. From the perspective of a sunspot, human beings seem insignificant.
I muse because the need exists in me to see the bigger picture. I do not see myself as the center of the universe, although we are all centers of our own universes.
Defining what has not before been defined is part of the evolution of consciousness.

Solar flares occur when opposite magnetic polarities clash together. Perhaps sunspot 904 has been so quiet lately because its poles are far apart. Almost 100,000 kilometers separate N from S. If the two ends of this sunspot group should begin to converge... stay tuned for fireworks.

The day after, when the pieces of data involving the Air Terror Threat in Britain yesterday come together, it appears that the British Secret Service (of James Bond Fame) stymied a plot involving the use of liquid explosives concealed in water bottles. Point is, the alleged liquid substances never made it anywhere near the aircrafts because the plot was thwarted.

"LONDON, Aug. 10 — The British authorities said Thursday that they had thwarted an advanced terrorist plot to blow up airplanes flying from Britain to the United States using liquid explosives that would have escaped airport security." The New York Times

"It is thought that the suspects were planning to blow up several planes by using liquid explosives carried in soft-drink bottles, and detonators disguised as electronic equipment. "BBC

"Authorities in Britain on Thursday announced the arrests of 24 people in connection with a plot to down commercial jetliners with explosives. While the investigation continues, the government officials say the primary players are now in custody. The original information about the plan came from the Muslim community in Britain, according to a British intelligence official. The alleged plot to smuggle liquid explosives onto planes has led to drastic new security measures at airports around the world. " CNN International

"LONDON — Two dozen suspects arrested by British police Thursday were in the final stages of a plan to detonate liquid explosives on as many as 10 U.S.-bound airliners in what appeared to be the most ambitious terrorist plot since the Sept. 11 attacks, authorities said.Officials could not say when the attacks were to be carried out but said the suspects, mainly British nationals of Pakistani descent, had acquired most of the materials to assemble explosives that could have killed hundreds of passengers as their planes crossed the Atlantic from British airports." What do these new reports tell us? They say that the alleged concealed liquid explosive substance never made it to the airports. The Threat Was Thwarted.
On the other hand, hundred of thousands of people had to throw away all their liquids.
Strange.
The Airport Security people (ah -hem) had no idea what was going on.
I have this complunction to put myself into a situation so that I can more clearly see. I also tend to wax poetic.
I've flown out of Heathrow. There's a Harrod's in the airport. All the perfumes are from France. I always stock up on bath and shower gels, and in Britain they have all this fabulous stuff made from oil of evening primrose. Yummy. I would have shopped, and would have had everything in my carryon. Because that's why people have their toilitries in their carryons. Cause one leakage into your luggage teaches you that. I would have freaked. I'm not putting physical possessions ahead of human lives. But just imagine, barrels and barrels of bottled water thrown away. Toothpast and mouthwash, shampoo and hair gel. Shaving cream and deodorant. Mountains of waste. Expensive waste. Waste that really isn't waste. Mystify Me.
Quantumly, the cause and effect don't match.
Where is the line drawn between a World of Terror and Personal Freedoms? We are not All Terrorists.
As an American, I see the pattern of civil liberties being taken away, piece by piece.
They're going to force this Age of Terror down everybody's throats.
It also took the media away from the Middle East for a day or two.
See?
Let's make an analogy to the sunspot - Sunspot 904, which became visible yesterday, August 10, 16 Menachem Av. Before a sunspot becomes visible, there are stages. Constant stages, or action and reaction, cause and effect. The sunspot is growing quickly. The Sun is our Star. We vibrate to its frequencies. We vibrate to the frequencies of the water. To paraphrase an old rye bread ad, you don't have to be Buddhist to admire his holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, or at least that's so in the case of at least three Jewish artists, who lend their artistic voices to "The Missing Peace: Artists Consider the Dalai Lama," an exhibition currently at the UCLA Fowler Museum of Cultural History.
As the exiled leader of Tibetan Buddhism, the Dalai Lama has a complex role. He is the unofficial leader of world Buddhism. Some people revere him as a living Buddha (not necessarily an act of avodah zara or idolatry, one might argue, because devotees describe "Buddha nature" as a universal attribute of all people). An Air Terror threat in the UK has lead to the banning of any liquids in carry on luggage except for baby formula.

Today is 15 Menachem Av, a day of balance and love in the energy consciousness of the universe. The Moon(feminine, minus pole) is Full in the month ruled by the Sun (masculine, plus pole). The Schechinah is fully manifest. The Full Adornment of the Feminine Energy in completion with the masculine. I can really relate to the above picture. I probably have done it in many lifetimes. The Feminine is always alluded to metaphorically as 'adorned' when she is illuminating the masculine pole.
Kabbalah teaches that on this day resonance occurs with the piece of the broken vessel that is your soul mate .
It is the love that is within, the inner love, that is brought forth on this day. The inner dimension of the letter tet, the inner love which carries all human species on all worlds into the domain of the essence of .........

At this moment in time Israel has launched a massive ground offensive on their Northern Border with Lebanon. We cannot allow ourselves to become complacent about this conflict. It is an invasive phenomonon. Even though I forewarned myself before hand not to freak out, I did when I paid 3.15 for gas this morning. I had to pray to Madre Maria, Madre de Dios. I always pray to Madre Maria en espanol. No sabe porque. There are certain situations that just bring that prayer forth from me, and buying gas this morning was one of those moments. Every was just totally apathetic and complacent about it, and there I was, the Jew from Jersey freaking out at the 7 Eleven in Orlando. Oy. And when one gets down to the nitty gritty of the energy, it is the feminine that one cries out to. All Religion Aside. Concidentally (ah-hem), this morning I got an email from my Chji Quong friend Rebecca with a full moon Quan Yin meditation. All spiritualitally esoteric modalities tie this full moon in particular to the manifestation of the feminine. We are all both masculine nd feminine. The inner battle that wages in which we seek balance or domination of one side over the other. All I know is that I will send inner love to Israel and the Conflict. Pacifist or not, I find that I must take a stand. War. The Battle. The Eternal Conflict. I cannot even think of what the future will bring.
The data just came in to me that today is the 61st anniversary of the Bombing of Nagasaki, Japan. A very eloquent Japanese man, a survivor of the bombing, was speaking at the House of Representatives as part of a Peace Committee. He said the same things I say. Made me feel not so alone. They're worried about the current conflict becoming nuclear and beg Americans not to be so complacent.
In the Meantime. I'm gonna Dance in the Supernal Jerusalem adorning myself in the Schechinah and resonate with my soul mate.

I will post the story from BBC news, even though I am not particularly happy with the way BBC News is reporting the Crisis in the Middle East. They're reporting it Anti-Israel.
No matter what the politics of this situation are, Israel is this tiny little space that has been fighting for its very existence since before it was even a state.

Benjamin Netanyahu (sp?) , former Israeli Prime Minister was live on Cable news this morning. I had to turn on the TV because at 5:30 AM I awoke with that horrible feeling of something terribly wrong. Mr. Netanyahu said that the West has historically been complacent to threats of any type of ethnic cleansing. He gave the example of Hitler, when nobody would believe that it was true. Of course, times have changed a lot in the area of technology, and now we can turn on the ol' TV and see the war. When asked what he thought of Bush and Condereecee's proposals to end the conflict, Netanyahu said I think that the president must be on dr.......
then the network said they lost satellite. Ha. I'll see if it is shown again later. I think it was Fox News Network. They're doing the best job of impartial reporting. Mr. Netanyahu was in London and he said that what was happening in Israel and Lebanon stastically was no different than the London Blitz. I think Pres. Clinton should have been there also. Where is he? Silent and exiled .

Strange 'twin' new worlds found
A pair of strange new worlds that blur the boundaries between planets and stars have been discovered beyond our Solar System.

A few dozen such objects have been identified in recent years but this is the first set of "twins".
Dubbed "planemos", they circle each other rather than orbiting a star.

Their existence challenges current theories about the formation of planets and stars, astronomers report in the journal Science.

"This is a truly remarkable pair of twins - each having only about 1% the mass of our Sun," said Ray Jayawardhana of the University of Toronto, co-author of the Science paper.
"Its mere existence is a surprise, and its origin and fate a bit of a mystery."

'Double planet'

The pair belongs to what some astronomers believe is a new class of planet-like objects floating through space; so-called planetary mass objects, or "planemos", which are not bound to stars.
Now we're curious to find out whether such pairs are common or rare. The answer could shed light on how free-floating planetary-mass objects form says Valentin Ivanov.

They appear to have been forged from a contracting gas cloud, in a similar way to stars, but are much too cool to be true stars.

And while they have similar masses to many of the giant planets discovered beyond our Solar System (the larger weighs in at 14 times the mass of Jupiter and the other is about seven times more massive), they are not thought to be true planets either.

"We are resisting the temptation to call it a 'double planet' because this pair probably didn't form the way that planets in our Solar System did," said co-researcher Valentin Ivanov of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Santiago, Chile.

'Amazing diversity'

The two objects have similar spectra and colours, suggesting that they formed at the same time about a million years ago.

They are separated by about six times the distance between the Sun and Pluto, and can be found in the Ophiuchus star-forming region some 400 light years away. They go under the official name Oph 162225-240515, or Oph 1622 for short.

"Recent discoveries have revealed an amazing diversity of worlds out there," said Dr Jayawardhana. "Still, the Oph 1622 pair stands out as one of the most intriguing, if not peculiar."
His colleague, Dr Ivanov, said they were curious to find out whether such pairs are common or rare.
"The answer could shed light on how free-floating planetary-mass objects form," he added.
Oph 1622 was discovered using the ESO's New Technology Telescope at La Silla, Chile. Follow-up studies were conducted with the ESO's Very Large Telescope.

There's a battle raging which has been doing so since the beginning of the concept we call time.
It just doesn't end. I'm speaking of the crisis with Israel and Lebanon.
Today, Sunday, was a bad day. The terminology is that the crisis is escalating.
Just synchronistically enough, yesterday's Torah portion, Va'etchanan, begins with Moses pleading(the meaning of the word va'etchanan is pleading with the sense of supplication)
to be allowed to enter the Promised Land.
Deuteronomy 3:23 - 7:11
At that time I pleaded with God, saying,
Va'etchanan el-Adonay ba'et hahi lemor.
Please let me cross [the Jordan]. Let me see the good land across the Jordan, the good mountain and the Lebanon.

What is stardust?
A fading sun in its life cycle will first go into the stage call a red giant, in which it sheds most of its mass. Then it will fade into a white dwart, which is small and dense. The larger the star, the more quickly (1000x faster) they go through their life phases. In these larger stars (15 x the sun of our sun), the star collapses in upon itself and produces an explosion called a Supernova. A supernova is an exploding star.
All the eloements which were once part of the star itself plus heavier elements formed by the supernova re blasted out into space. This is interstellar dust.
The Stardust Mission was devised to collect the interstellar dust.
"Stardust was launched on its mission to capture dust and debris surrounding a comet in 1999.
It swept up particles from Comet Wild 2 in January 2004, as it flew within 240km (149 miles) of the frozen body of ice and dust.
As part of its trip, the probe also captured a sprinkling of dust that would have originated in distant stars. It did this by extending a retractable device containing cells filled with aerogel, a porous substance designed to trap dust molecules."
"Aerogel is one of the strangest materials ever developed. It is a solid, yet is only a few times as dense as air. If you hold it in your hand, you can only barely feel its weight, and it looks bluish and ghostly – like solid smoke. While it looks blue, it casts an orange shadow. It does this for the same reason that the sky is blue and sunsets are red!
Aerogel has extremely bizarre properties. It is a solid, glassy nanofoam, yet weighs next to nothing. Aerogel has the almost magical property that it can capture particles moving at very high speeds (several miles per second or more) better than any other material. One side of the collector was used for chasing the comet, the other for interstellar dust.

"Volunteers will be able to access the images via a web-based "virtual microscope". To take part, they need a reasonably up-to-date computer with Netscape or Internet Explorer, patience and some spare time.
People who register will have to go through a web-based training session to see if they are suitable. Dr Westphal believes the untrained eye may be better at spotting what amounts to a cosmic needle in a haystack. "

Stardust at Home and the University of Berkeley research project is what I am participating in as a volunteer.
We're doing interstellar dust particles. You need to look for the particle trail in the aerogel.
They look like mini sephirot. Because Berkeley is an educational institution, they feel the need to constantly test you to make sure that you're looking for the correct image. Unfortunately, these tests tend to make me not point out what might be an anomoly because then I'll get one wrong.
Oy. Testing. I see the necessity for it. They need to weed through the volunteers and see who is getting the hang of it.
What I see is a grey slide with little marks in it. You have to click trail, no trail or bad focus.
I'm looking at a VM of the aerogel collector. It is way way out.
I'm loving it

Especially which the chaos on the planet.

So far I saw 19 particle tracks out of 450 real movies (as opposed to what they call Calibration Movies, which are the tests.)

I'm keeping track by watching the cable news networks. The reporters in the field are better because they aren't scripted when they're live.

There are no endings, only beginnings.
At least nobody is firing nukes, or if they are nobody is telling us.

I'll mention that I got no takes for my Peace and Hope Blog. Everybody is tooo involved in their own personal predicaments. We all have personal predicaments. I do too. Lots of them.
We're all in traumatic stress syndrome, whether we know it or knot. (:P)
In America, everybody is addicted to Reality TV. That makes what is shown less emotional, because everybody has seen it all before in some form or other.
I don't see things that way.

Put personal predicaments aside and participate in pushing the energy of Peace outwards.

On January 11, 2006, the Stardust spacecraft's sample return capsule parachuted gently onto the Utah desert. Nestled within the capsule were precious particles collected during Stardust’s dramatic encounter with comet Wild 2 in January of 2004.
But the Stardust return capsule carried with it something else, even rarer and no less precious: tiny particles of interstellar dust that originate in distant stars, lightyears away. They are the first such pristine particles ever collected in space, and scientists are eagerly waiting for their chance to “get their hands” on them.
Before they can study them, however, scientists will first need to find them. This, it turns out, will not be easy. Unlike the thousand of particles of varying sizes collected from the comet, scientists estimate that Stardust collected only around 40 interstellar dust particles. They are tiny—only about a micron (a millionth of a meter) in size! These few and miniscule particles are embedded in an aerogel collector 1,000 square centimeters in size. To make things worse, after almost seven years in space the collector plates are interspersed with flaws and cracks. All this makes the interstellar dust particles extremely difficult to locate.

Parashat Devarim

This Shabbat is Shabbat Hazon - the Shabbat before Tisha B'Av. Shabbat Hazon means Shabbat of Vision. The metaphor is, look to the future. Don't mourn the destruction of the Temples, mourn the cause. See a Positive Future in which the Temple Stands.
Devarim is the first portion in the Book of Deuterotony, the 5th book of Torah. Keter, Chochmah, Binah, Zeir Anpin, Malchut.
Devarim means "words". The sense for the month of Av which starts the Book of Devarim is Hearing, and the inner meaning of the entire book is words.
Parashat Devarim begins with an aleph, not a vav, as does Parashat Massey, the last portion in Numbers. Av begins with an aleph too.
These are the words of Moses - the beginning of his goodbye speech, as it were, to B'nei Yisrael before his upcoming death.

"These are the words that Moses spoke to all Israel on the east bank of the Jordan, in the desert [and] in the Aravah, near Suf, in the vicinity of Paran, Tofel, Lavan, Chatzeroth and Di Zahav. Eleh hadevarim asher diber Moshe el-kol-Yisra'el be'ever haYarden bamidbar ba'Aravah mol Suf beyn-Paran uveyn-Tofel veLavan vaChatserot veDi Zahav."

Moshe starts with a summary of the travels and wars of B'nei Yisrael. In the literal narrative, Moshe is relating the story of the battle for the Northern Boundary of Eretz Yisrael.

The Sages - Rabbi Shimon and the Ari - teach about the source of the evil amongst nations.

Without dogma I present the spiritual esoteric data.

President Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair just had a meeting to discuss the crisis in the Middle East.
The UK is the only ally to have emerged.
Now it is the US, the UK, and Israel.
Dubbleu basically said Peace through War.
Blair said it more eloquently with an English accent.
Dubblu pronounced the word nuclear correctly.

While the meeting was going on, attacks from both sides continued, and civilian casualties are mounting.

Today the News Media is starting to turn global public opinion against Israel.

Guess these are the 'structions condeereecee left.

Many are saying this is the beginning of WWIII. Many are saying this is The Apocolypse. Many are saying, 'this doesn't affect me'. The Extremist Organizations are saying that they will not stop fighting until the Nation of Islam controls everything from Spain to Iraq. The Battle for Jerusalem.

I don't know what to say.

I don't believe in war, but a war is.

And when any nation is saying that they want another nation wiped off the face of the earth, that's not good.

I'm at war myself. Internal war. Difficult to attach to that inner peace of the tet. So much chaos. Inner and outer. My soul aches and my brain is frying.

So many young men dying. My generation had the Viet Nam War. We lost our young men. Lots of them. So many wars. So much death. So much blood spilled.

Av is called 'Menachem Av'. Av means father, and menachem means comforter or consoler.
Av is one of two months who have a prefix - the other month is Scorpio, Cheshvan, which is called 'Mar Cheshvan'. Av is spelled aleph bet - the first 2 letters of the alephbet, gematria 3.

Av is the 5th month of the hebrew calender. As we move forward in the calender, it must be understood that what came before is a part of the new month, and the month itself is a preparation for what is to come. The Now is the Midpoint between 2 Extremes. Nothing stands alone.

The letter for the month of Menachem Av is the letter Tet, 9th letter of the aleph bet, gematria 9. The sign is aryeh - the lion.

Av - Leo is ruled by the sun. The letter for the sun is the letter kaf, 11th letter of the aleph bet, gematria 20. Menachem Av - Leo is left column, fire , of the fire signs. Left column is feminine energy, and - pole. The gematria of aryeh is 216, which is also the gematria of gevurah - left column - red - might, strength, judgement. The energy itself is fire x 3. The waters of life flow from Binah. Gevurah from Binah is unsweetened. To sweeten the gevurah the yesod of chochmah (chochmah - av- the father) needs to be illuminated by malchut of binah.
When fire and water are mixed you get steam. Another form. Paradox and synchronicity at the same time.

The letter tet has the shape of an open vessel with an inward point. The esoteric explanation for Tet is that the energy is one of openness to the inner. What is concealed must be dealt with.
It is the shape of the letter which defines it. We are all vessels. Now is the time to connect with the inner, with the concealed, and to bring it forth in the form of light and peace, not chaos and destruction.

As I study and write the post, I cannot help but be totally aware of the current crisis in Israel and the Middle East. Things are getting worse and worse. I said in my post for Tammuz - Cancer, which begins the period called'the three weeks' which have bred negative and disasterous resuts throught the history of the Jewish peoples, that when the negative is what is concentrated upon, negative results will prevail. We are already dealing with the negative - pole. Left column energy in the form of fire with the fierceness and intensity of the lion is being thrust down upon us, the open vessels.
It is only by looking inward, both within ourselves and in a quantum sense, that we can reveal our inner light.
The metaphor is that of great amounts of light being revealed by connection to the concealed.
It is the same concept as the schechinah being in exile - what does being in exile mean? It means concealed. So, the basis of the energy during this time is that of concealment. Inwardness. Or pinimi - inner light.
That darn paradox again - only through darkness can light be revealed.
The letter gives us the opportunity to connect to the peace that is always within, although it may be concealed it is accessable , and send that peace outwards.
Still has to happen in the global consciousness. Hasn't happened yet.

In Judaism, the 9th of Av is the most negative day in the hebrew calendar. It is the day that both the First and Second Temples were destroyed in Jerusalem. Kabbalah teaches that the temples still exist in the supernal, but in order for that amount of spiritual energy to be made manifest upon the Earth again humankind needs to reach the consciousness of mashiach. Some believe that Mashiach is a person. Some believe that it is a consciousness. Whatever the belief system, it is an energy of peace and completion where all wrongs will finally be righted.
9 Av is a Major fast day . There are 5 no's.
No drinking, no eating, no washing, no leather, no sex.
The days leading up to the 9th of Av are days to connect to the mourning for the loss of the Temples .
On the 9th {just to point it out - see the simple gematria in play here? tet is the 9th letter, an open vessel pointing inward - we are being given the ability to connect to the energy in a positive sense, see?}
the Book of Lamentations is read. Last year I lamented. Put myself out of commission for quite a while doing that. Whoa boys. Don't tell me to lament . I know how to do that. And i can do it very very well. This year I will fast, but I'm not doing Lamentations. Nopers.

back to the teachings.
As the day the 9th of Av contains the most negative incident, it also hold the power to give birth to mashiach. Darkness and light again.

Nothing good is going to happen with the crisis in the Middle East for a while. Right now the news is saying that the conflict will go on for weeks more. The issue of the UN's anti-semitic attitude is also being mentioned. I found out about that during Davos - The UN gave a bound agenda to all the participants in Davos and there was a piece about sanctions and boyotts to Israel. The UN said it was a mistake. History is rewriting itself again.

I can't help but make the connection - it is staring me right in the face.

The 1st of Av, today, is the death anniversary of Aaron HaKohan. The 5th of Av, Hei B'Av, is the death anniversary of Rabbi Yitzach Luria, the Ari. { In kabbalah the death anniversaries of the great Tzaddiks are observed because it is taught that when a Tzaddick leaves this world he reveals all his light.} The 9th of Av, Tisha B'Av, is the fast and lamenting day. The 15th of Av- Tu B' Av is a kabbalistic valentine's day - the day one should connect with one's soulmate. Actually, energetically, it is the day when the balance between the Sun - physical manifestation of Menacham Av - and the Full Moon are both in full power, and a natural balance exists between the energies contained in the planetary bodies. There's also a biblical metaphor about Moses and Joshua - Moses is the Sun and Joshua is the Moon. That's another esoteric explanation when they want to completely disregard the feminine energy.

Connecting to the energy of the letter in a state of meditation helps to calm me.
These times are Full of Fire - The Wrath of the Feminine Strength -
But it doesn't have to be that way. It just has been that way for a long time and whilst humanity adapts so easily to chaos, peace is always seen as a 'future' situation.

I don't want there to be a WWIII. Lot of fire and hatred is manifested in the physical. Prehistoric humans roamed the world's largest desert for some 5,000 years, archaeologists have revealed.

The Eastern Sahara of Egypt, Sudan, Libya and Chad was home to nomadic people who followed rains that turned the desert into grassland.

When the landscape dried up about 7,000 years ago, there was a mass exodus to the Nile and other parts of Africa.

The close link between human settlement and climate has lessons for today, researchers report in Science.

"Even modern day conflicts such as Dafur are caused by environmental degradation as it has been in the past," Dr Stefan Kropelin of the University of Cologne, Germany, told the BBC News website.

"The basic struggle for food, water and pasture is still a big problem in the Sahara zone. This process started thousands of years ago and has a long tradition."

Jigsaw puzzle

The Eastern Sahara, which covers more than 2 million sq km, an area the size of Western Europe, is now almost uninhabited by people or animals, providing a unique window into the past.

The settlers left their mark with art

Dr Kropelin and colleague Dr Rudolph Kuper pieced together the 10,000-year jigsaw of human migration and settlement; studying more than 100 archaeological sites over the course of 30 years.

In the largest study of its kind, they built up a detailed picture of human evolution in the world's largest desert. They found that far from the inhospitable climate of today, the area was once semi-humid.

Between about 14,000 and 13,000 years ago, the area was very dry. But a drastic switch in environmental conditions some 10,500 years ago brought rain and monsoon-like conditions.
Nomadic human settlers moved in from the south, taking up residence beside rivers and lakes.

They were hunter-gatherers at first, living off plants and wild game.

Eventually they became more settled, domesticating cattle for the first time, and making intricate pottery.

Neolithic farmers

Humid conditions prevailed until about 6,000 years ago, when the Sahara abruptly dried out. There was then a gradual exodus of people to the Nile Valley and other parts of the African continent.

"The Nile Valley was almost devoid of settlement until about exactly the time that the Egyptian Sahara was so dry people could not live there anymore," Dr Kropelin told the BBC News website.

"People preferred to live on savannah land. Only when this wasn't possible they migrated towards southern Sudan and the Nile.

"They brought all their know-how to the rest of the continent - the domestication of cattle was invented in the Sahara in the humid phase and was then slowly pushed over the rest of Africa.
"This Neolithic way of life, which still is a way of life in a sense; preservation of food for the dry season and many other such cultural elements, was introduced to central and southern Africa from the Sahara."

'Motor of evolution'

Dr Kuper said the distribution of people and languages, which is so politically important today, has its roots in the desiccation of the Sahara.

The switch in environmental conditions acted as a "motor of Africa's evolution," he said.

"It happened during these 5,000 years of the savannah that people changed from hunter-gathers to cattle keepers," he said.

"This important step in human history has been made for the first time in the African Sahara."

In 1996 in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, Italian mineralogist Vincenzo de Michele spotted an unusual yellow-green gem in the middle of one of Tutankhamun's necklaces.

The jewel was tested and found to be glass, but intriguingly it is older than the earliest Egyptian civilisation.

Working with Egyptian geologist Aly Barakat, they traced its origins to unexplained chunks of glass found scattered in the sand in a remote region of the Sahara Desert.

But the glass is itself a scientific enigma. How did it get to be there and who or what made it?
Thursday's BBC Horizon programme reports an extraordinary new theory linking Tutankhamun's gem with a meteor.

Sky of fire

An Austrian astrochemist Christian Koeberl had established that the glass had been formed at a temperature so hot that there could be only one known cause: a meteorite impacting with Earth. And yet there were no signs of an impact crater, even in satellite images.

American geophysicist John Wasson is another scientist interested in the origins of the glass. He suggested a solution that came directly from the forests of Siberia.

"When the thought came to me that it required a hot sky, I thought immediately of the Tunguska event," he tells Horizon.

In 1908, a massive explosion flattened 80 million trees in Tunguska, Siberia.

Although there was no sign of a meteorite impact, scientists now think an extraterrestrial object of some kind must have exploded above Tunguska. Wasson wondered if a similar aerial burst could have produced enough heat to turn the ground to glass in the Egyptian desert.

Jupiter clue

The first atomic bomb detonation, at the Trinity site in New Mexico in 1945, created a thin layer of glass on the sand. But the area of glass in the Egyptian desert is vastly bigger.
Whatever happened in Egypt must have been much more powerful than an atomic bomb.

A natural airburst of that magnitude was unheard of until, in 1994, scientists watched as comet Shoemaker-Levy collided with Jupiter. It exploded in the Jovian atmosphere, and the Hubble telescope recorded the largest incandescent fireball ever witnessed rising over Jupiter's horizon.

Mark Boslough, who specialises in modelling large impacts on supercomputers, created a simulation of a similar impact on Earth.

The simulation revealed that an impactor could indeed generate a blistering atmospheric fireball, creating surface temperatures of 1,800C, and leaving behind a field of glass.

"What I want to emphasise is that it is hugely bigger in energy than the atomic tests," says Boslough. "Ten thousand times more powerful."

Defence lessons

The more fragile the incoming object, the more likely these airborne explosions are to happen.

In Southeast Asia, John Wasson has unearthed the remains of an event 800,000 years ago that was even more powerful and damaging than the one in the Egyptian desert; one which produced multiple fireballs and left glass over three hundred thousand square miles, with no sign of a crater.

"Within this region, certainly all of the humans would have been killed. There would be no hope for anything to survive," he says.

According to Boslough and Wasson, events similar to Tunguska could happen as frequently as every 100 years, and the effect of even a small airburst would be comparable to many Hiroshima bombs.

Attempting to blow up an incoming asteroid, Hollywood style, could well make things worse by increasing the number of devastating airbursts.

"There are hundreds of times more of these smaller asteroids than there are the big ones the astronomers track," says Mark Boslough. "There will be another impact on the earth. It's just a matter of when."

When a student studies the discipline of yoga they learn to diffuse their vision, sometimes called softening the gaze. The allows the body and the mind to come together. When vision is diffused nothing is clear. Everything has a soft glow surrounding it - shapes and colours intertwine - one dimension is replaced with another.

When the Schechinah is in exile we are in a permanent state of diffused vision, and it is with our free choice that we see.

It is time to take sides. I side with Israel.

Although I've never been a soldier I've fought many personal battles. In fact, I still am.
I just cannot be apathetic and complacent. Politics aside. I gotta side with Israel.

The human consciousness easily adapts to chaos.
As the strife between Israel and Lebanon continues, the world consciousness becomes more complacent. In this country most people are in acceptance mode. Oh well. It will go on for a while. It doesn't affect me. I'm not speaking of any one particular group, just a general consciousness.

The War Reporters are doing their thing, reporting. We have Cooper Anderson from CNN who rose to fame by not keeping his mouth shut about the disaster that befell New Orleans and to this day has not been rectified. Cooper Anderson is in Israel now. Fox News Network has Shepard Smith, and MSNBC has Tucker Carlson. All these reporters speak with amazement at the conditions under which the Israelis live. They say, can you imagine if this happened in New York or LA or Chicago. What people don't realize is that this isn't anything new. The Middle East has existed under the cloud of conflict forever. Another thing all the anchors are speaking of is the competency with which the Israeli soldiers deal with the constant bombing. It is all choreographed and carried out with the utmost aplomb. During this time of technology when war is on TV, it is hard to diferentiate the energy of that from the energy of reality shows.

Crisis in the Middle East

Fire, fear and thoughts of ultimate destruction have manifested.

The bombs and missles are engaged.
Haifa is on the Mediterannean. Beruit is on the Mediterannean.

The energy of destruction breeds destruction.
All politics aside, the energy of war and hatred is feeding upon itself. That's what happens.

There is no thought in the Middle East of Stopping War. There are only thoughts of making war.

Can't be.

This week's Torah portion is Parashat Pinchas. Pinchas murdered a Moabite woman and the Israelite who was copulating with her by thrusting his spear through both of them. The Divine Presence gave Pinchas and all of his descendants the covenant of peace :

The word shalom = peace, in the Torah scroll is written with a broken vav. In the sephirot, the vav of the tetragrammaton represents the six sephirot of Zeir Anpin - Chesed, Gevurah, Tiferet, Netzach, Hod and Yesod. The broken vav is subject to long dissertation.

Also in this Parashat the Daughters of Tzeafchad are named and given their just inheritance. The Daughters of Tzelafchad are Machlah, No'ah, Chaglah, Milkah and Tirtzah.

The esoteric metaphor here is that a feminine energy of strength is being planted.
It is all about the feminine energy. The schechinah, who is the daughter of Binah is in exile.
Binah is left column energy. Left column is fire - the root of desire and passion and also the root of destruction. The feminine holds within herself both these attributes. We're getting dosed with Left column energy. Whether we make use of that energy by using it to plant desire and passion for peace or for destruction is up to us.

The 17th of Tammuz - For Informational Purposes

The 17th of Tammuz (Thursday) is the beginning of what are called ' the negative three weeks' in the Hebrew calendar.

It was during this period that a myriad of disasters befell upon the Jewish people.
I am trying to view it from a different perspective. To keep on viewing it as negative, and to mourn is a paradox. What is necessary to move forward and through this period of intense energy, which is neither positive or negative, it just is, is to transmute that which has happened in a past - a past which is an effect of a causality.
In the quantum world of 11 dimensional space which has nothing to do with time, the continuum in which everything exists at all times; in the myriad of wonder of parallel universes, alternate dimensions and time travel holding on to the negative effect of the causality doesn't make sense. In the realm of the other dimensions, the cause for the events which cause the Jewish People to name this time period as the negative three weeks might be a cause that happens in the future. The simple act of holding on makes it a truth unto itself, reverberating throughout the causality. The train rolling down the tracks with no brakes, no reverse, no twists or turns.

In terms of the letters which contain energy, tav, the last letter of the aleph bet, rules the moon. The 17th of Tammuz is a Full Moon. Tammuz - Cancer is the month of water of water, left column energy, the energy of Binah. The Schechinah is in exile. The tides are the highest at this particular full moon than at any other time during the year. If we start with the hei, the letter for the first month of Nissan, then vav, the letter for the second month, then zayin, the letter for the 3rd month, then chet, which is a combination in form of the vav and the zayin, but also a connected hei, and tav is a dalet with an upside down vav, a synchronistic form becomes revealed. The gematria hei 5 + vav 6 + zayin 7 + chet 8 = 26, which is the gematria for the tetragrammaton, the 4 letter name of the Divine. The 4 letters relate to the four worlds and the sephirot of chochmah, binah, Zeir Anpin and Malchut. Interesting. And that's just the simple gematria. During these three weeks one is not supposed to meditate upon the tetragrammation.
Instead, the gematria of substituting the preceeding letter is used, so the letters of the tetragrammaton, yud -- hei -- vav--hei become tet--dalet--hei--dalet , 9+4+5+4=22, the number of letters in the aleph bet excluding the final soffits. In the form of gematria in which each letter is the number of its place in the aleph bet, tav, the last letter, the ruler of the moon is 22. Just in the simple numbers there is synchronicity.
I don't want to be told that the energy is negative and that I need to mourn for past events for 3 weeks.
I'm not ignoring this energy, because it is definitely manifest. Religion teaches it through dogma and fear. Here is a little hard data.

A Historic Day of Calamity
Going all the way back to Biblical times,
Moses descended Mount Sinai on this day and, upon seeing the Golden Calf broke the first set of Tablets carrying the Ten Commandments (Shemot 32:19, Mishna Taanit 28b).

In the First Temple Era: The priests in the First Temple stopped offering the daily sacrifice on this day (Taanit 28b) due to the shortage of sheep during the siege and the next year 3184 (5186 BCE), the walls of Jerusalem were breached after many months of siege by Nebuchadnezzar and his Babylonian forces.

During the period of Roman persecution an idol was placed in the holy sanctuary of the Temple (Melachim II 21:7,Taanit 28b), and the heathen Apostomos, captain of the occupation forces, publicly burned the Torah (Taanit 28b) - both acts considered open blasphemy and desecration. These were followed by Titus and Rome breaching the walls of Jerusalem in 3760 (70 CE) and Pope Gregory IX ordering the confiscation of all manuscripts of the Talmud in 4999 (1239).

In later years this day continued to be a dark one for Jews. In 1391, more than 4,000 Jews were killed in Toledo and Jaen, Spain and in 4319 (1559) the Jewish Quarter of Prague was burned and looted.

The Kovno ghetto was liquidated on this day in 5704 (1944) and in 5730 (1970) Libya ordered the confiscation of Jewish property.

Other interesting occurrences on this day include Noach sending out the first dove to see if the Flood waters had receded, (Bereishit 8:8) in 1650 (2100 BCE); Moshe Rabbeinu destroying the golden calf, (Shemot 32:20, Seder Olam 6, Taanit 30b - Rashi) and then ascending back up Har Sinai for the second time where he spent the next forty days pleading for forgiveness for the sin of the golden calf, (Shemot 33:11, Rashi).

The Mishnah (Taanit 4:6) lists five calamities that befell the Jewish people on this date:

The three weeks between the Seventeenth of Tamuz and the Ninth of Av are in themselves known as the Three Weeks, also known as bein hametzarim ("between the straits"), of a mounting sense of mourning for Jerusalem's and the Temples' destructions.

That's the general data. I don't do the 17th of Tammuz fast, although I do the 9th of Av fast.
It is the start of a major energy shift during which everything is vulernable.

Building Collapse in Manhattan

A building collapse on a Monday morning during rush hour no less is a commuter's hell.
Oy.
What intrigues me are the different presentations of the story.

There's no place like New York City.
I left there for many reasons, but the energy of New York only exists there.
Manhattan is an island. In order to get on to the island you have to cross either bridges or tunnels. I did that for 15 (fifteen) years. Building collapses in Manhattan are also part of my past consciousness because I worked in the construction industry for those 15 commuting years.
At least it wasn't in Midtown - Upper East Side.
Therefore, anything that happens in New York City which involves working there interests me.
And I Do Love New York.

Building collapses in Manhattan
A three-storey building on Manhattan's Upper East Side has collapsed after what witnesses said was a huge blast.

New York's fire commissioner said he believed a gas explosion had caused the collapse early on Monday morning.

Fire officials were seen trying to dig someone out of the rubble of the building, which is said to house a doctor's surgery and a beauty salon.

Smoke rose high above the building, located between Park and Madison Avenues, local media reported.

Hundreds of firefighters were on the scene shortly after the fire was reported at 0840 local time (1240 GMT).

Fire Department spokesman Jim Long said they were trying to rescue someone from the debris.
Television then showed rescuers taking the person away on a stretcher.

Two people were reported to have been taken to hospital.

'Boom'

Yaakov Kermaier, who lives next door, told the Associated Press news agency that he heard a "deafening boom. I saw the whole building explode in front of me."

Thad Milonas, who was operating a coffee cart across from the building, told AP the ground shook and the building came down.
"In a few seconds, finished. The whole building collapsed," he said.

The White House said the collapse did not appear to be connected to terrorism.

(CBS/AP) A four-story building housing doctors' offices collapsed and burned in an apparent gas explosion Monday after what witnesses described as a thunderous explosion that rocked the neighborhood just off Madison Avenue. There was a previous report that one person was confirmed dead, but CBS station WCBS-TV reports that there are as of now no fatalities.

Authorities said the apparent cause was a gas explosion, possibly triggered by a suicidal doctor who lived in the building and was going through a difficult divorce. At least 11 people were injured, including five civilians and six firefighters, the Fire Department said.

The doctor, 66-year-old Nicholas Bartha, was pulled from the rubble after talking to authorities on his phone from the wreckage, fire chief Nicholas Scoppetta said. "This could have been an even worse disaster than it already is," Scoppetta said. A police official told The Associated Press that the lawyer for the doctor's wife contacted police recently and said that she had received an e-mail from him in which he indicated he was contemplating suicide.

Authorities believe that the explosion may be related to a suicide attempt involving gas, the police official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing. "We're still investigating that, talking about the potential for suicide. So that's a distinct possibility," Scoppetta said.

Power company Con Edison said its crews had been responding to complaints from a gas customer at an adjacent building at the time of the blast occurred.

Earlier, White House press secretary Tony Snow said there was no indication of terrorism. Heavy black smoke rose high above the building, creating a four-alarm fire, wedged between taller structures on 62nd Street between Park and Madison avenues, WCBS reports. Damage, including shattered windows, could be seen at one of the adjoining buildings. The building reportedly housed a beauty salon and Lt. Eugene Whyte said the building included two doctors' offices.
Yaakov Kermaier, 36, a resident in a building next door, said he was outside when he heard "a deafening boom. I saw the whole building explode in front of me." "Everybody started running, nobody knew what was coming next," he said. His nanny and newborn escaped from their next-door apartment unharmed.
Streets around the area were closed off to traffic as ambulances and rescue units responded just before 9 a.m.
Several hundred firefighters are on the scene, WCBS reports.
Witnesses told reporters that they heard a loud explosion, but it wasn't clear whether it was before or after the fire started. "It was a huge explosion and everything shook," Vivian Horan, an eyewitness, told WCBS. "It was terrifying. This whole building was just in pieces on the street." "I saw a huge explosion. I've never seen anything like it. I saw smoke, pigeons flying all over," a cook who worked in a neighboring building also told WCBS. "I saw the building shake." A four-story building in midtown Manhattan collapsed and burned Monday morning after what witnesses said was a thunderous explosion that rocked the neighborhood.

Firefighters dug one person, a doctor who owned the building, from the rubble about an hour after the blast, and two other people and a firefighter were taken to hospitals, Fire Department spokesman Jim Long said.

Fire Department Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta said officials suspect the doctor, who was in critical condition, might have caused a natural gas leak in a suicide attempt. "It is possible it is a suicide [attempt]," he told WNBC.

Shortly before the blast, a utility crew had been in the building next door responding to a report of a natural gas smell.

The fire department described the collapse as a "major incident," declaring it a four-alarm fire and sending 170 firefighters to the scene.

The building included two doctors’ offices, and records show at least one apartment was in the building as well, Fire Department Lt. Eugene Whyte said. Authorities said a nurse who was supposed to open one of the offices arrived late, narrowly missing the explosion.

At least two people were under evaluation at a hospital after the collapse. It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone was still trapped inside the building, on 62nd street between Madison and Park avenues on Manhattan’s East Side.

Stroke gives woman foreign accent

A Geordie woman has apparently developed foreign accents after waking up following a stroke.

Linda Walker awoke in hospital to find her distinctive Newcastle accent had been transformed into a mixture of Jamaican, Canadian and Slovakian.

The 60-year-old may have Foreign Accent Syndrome, where patients speak differently after a brain injury.

The former university administrator says she hates what has happened to her and now feels like a different person.

Mrs Walker said: "My sister-in-law said that I sounded Italian, then my brother said I sounded Slovakian and someone else said I sounded French Canadian.

"But the latest is that I sound Jamaican, I just don't know how to explain it.
"Everybody is obviously hearing me differently.

I've lost my identity, because I never talked like this before. I'm a very different person and it's strange and I don't like it

"I didn't realise what I sounded like, but then my speech therapist played a tape of me talking. I was just devastated."

Researchers at Oxford University have found that patients with Foreign Accent Syndrome have suffered damage to tiny areas of the brain that affect speech.

The result is often a drawing out or clipping of the vowels that mimic the accent of a particular country, such as Spain or France, even though the sufferer has limited exposure to that accent.

The syndrome was first identified during World War II, when a Norwegian woman suffered shrapnel damage to her brain. She developed a strong German accent, which led to her being ostracised by her community.

Different sounds

Dr Nick Miller, a senior lecturer in speech language science at Newcastle University, said the condition could occur in patients who had suffered a stroke or other brain injury.

He said: "The stroke has affected the coordination between different muscle groups like the lips, tongue and vocal cords.

"The balance has been changed and certain sounds get distorted so vowels and consonants take on different sounds.

"Intonation is also affected so sometimes it will fall at the end of a sentence and sometimes it will rise."

Mrs Walker added: "I've lost my identity, because I never talked like this before. I'm a very different person and it's strange and I don't like it.

"It's very hard and I get very upset in my head, but I'm getting better."

Once again, everything becomes increasingly difficult.

There is such endless variety in the forms of manifestations of physicality.
While hanging out in Atlantic City Airport for over six hours one week and one day ago {I've just crashed from my travels} I was able to gaze upon the variety of human beings. Every single person appears to the eye as a distinct individual. An incomprehensible array. No two people look the same or act the same or feel the same. From whence comes the sameness? From the same place as comes the infinite variety.

Whilst the scribed chet is usually written as two zayins with a bridge (see above picture), the Ari says that the Chet is a Vav on the right and a zayin on the left. I always go with the Ari.

There is a lot of negativity taught about the month of Tammuz. I will not go into it with this post. One of the reasons that certain teaches say that Tammuz, along with Av and Tevet (Leo and Capricorn) are 'negative' months is because the Schechinah ( 2 chets in the spelling of that one) is in exile. The Shechinah is the quintessential feminine principle of the G-d head. The Schechinah is always referred to as She. She is the feminine energy of Binah, from whom flow the Waters of Life, as that energy surrounds the sephirot of Malchut.

The Shechinah is the G-ddess within. Guess those men can't deal with the fact that they are being kept within chayam by the essence of the feminine.

Tammuz is the only month ruled by the moon. The moon is the feminine principle made manifest. The influence of the moon is magnified even further because Cancer is a water sign, water of water in kabbalistic astrology, and the moon is responsible for the ocean's tides.

Cancers are usually considered to be the most sensitve of the astrological signs. It is a well known fact about those born under the sign of Cancer that there is always something they keep hidden.

The Torah Portions during Tammuz are also fascinating. The first Shabbat is Korach, Then Balak, Then Pinchas. Two bad guys then a good guy in a really bad situation.
But
it is in Parashat Pinchas that the Daughters of Zelophehad are named. Twice. In the literal story these are the women who spoke up for themselves to Moses. The Schechinah obviously wasn't in exile with them. Their names are Machlah, Noach, Chaglah, Milcah and Tirzah. 5 of them.

Today is 1 Tammuz- Cancer. The moon will be a sliver of a crescent.
The last 3 days the moon was new - no visible moon.

Saturday night the Atlantic Ocean put on a spectacular show. I was in the motel in Seaside Park, New Jersey and I saw the spouts. The man in the room next to mine also came out onto the balcony. We witnessed the phenomonon together, B'H. He said that he has been staying down the shore every weekend for the last 25 years, and he had never witnessed such a display. I remember water spouts from when I was a teenager - the lifeguards would see them and get us out of the water. You can't really see them if you are at sea level. You need to be up a little higher. Boaters can't see them. The 2nd floor balcony gave a good view.

When I looked at the pics, the Sky Sphere was revealed. It couldn't be the sun - this is the East. The Sun sets in the West. The Moon rises in the East over the Atlantic, but the moon was new.
I thought it might be a water droplet on the lense, but it isn't visible in any of the other pics which will all be posted at:

What makes the phenomonon even more awe inducing is that The Moon is the Ruling Planet for the Month of Tammuz.
I just got back from Jersey so the Tammuz post will be forthcoming.

Somehow the water vapor revealed the Magnificance of the Moon in her Full Glory.

Thousands of dancing and drumming revelers cheered the summer solstice at Stonehenge as an orange sliver of sun rose Wednesday. Cloudy skies, dense fog and spurts of rain did not seem to dampen the energy of those who bobbed and swayed to cheerful beats with arms outstretched and shouts of "Feel the solstice!"

About 19,000 New Agers, present-day druids and partygoers gathered inside and around the ancient circle of towering stones to greet the longest day in the northern hemisphere as the sun struggled to peek out against a smoky gray sky.

"This is the nearest thing I've got to religion," said Ray Meadows, 34, of Bristol, England. The solstice "is a way of giving thanks to the earth and the universe."

Meadows, wearing a wreath of pink carnations over long pink hair-wrapped braids, identified herself as a fairy of the Tribe of Frog.

Stonehenge, on the Salisbury Plain 80 miles southwest of London, was built between 3000 B.C. and 1600 B.C. The lichen-covered rocks are a major tourist attraction and have spiritual significance for thousands of druids and New Age followers.

English Heritage, the monument's caretaker, began allowing full access to the site again in 2000.
Crowds of partygoers stumbled toward their cars an hour after sunrise, some clutching nearly empty bottles or beer cans.
One described the crowd as 5 percent pagan and 95 percent partygoer.
"Some people here are really spoiling it," said Chris Sargent, 37, of Bournemouth. "Once upon a time it was really spiritual."

Sargent, clad in a long black jacket and pants, top hat and fighter pilot goggles, drank vodka and Coke from a two-liter soda bottle and confessed he was "really stoned."

Jeanette Robinson, 71, of Burton-upon-Trent, England, was cold and tired as she watched the celebration from a low hill near the monument, but said it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
"I don't suppose I'll be here to do it again at my age," she said.

Groups of tourists, some from France, Italy and Spain, joined British revelers. Daniel Estera, 25, flew from Barcelona for one night at the solstice with 15 friends.
"It is part of a family tradition to see a solstice monument from around the world," Estera said. "It is about respect for ancient cultures."

How and why the monument was built remains unknown. Some experts say its builders aligned the stones as part of their sun-worshipping culture, while others believe it was part of an astronomical calendar.

Today is the Summer Solstice, which is the Longest Day.
Here in Orlando, 14 hours from sunrise to sunset. Up North the day is longer. In my old stomping grounds in Jersey 15 hours from sunrise til sunset. In The Artic and Alaska now is the time of the Midnight Sun. I was in Cornwall England for The Longest Day once. 10:10 PM was sunset. Between The Stones.
I think all days should be The Longest Day.

As I muse and ponder and live, as people keep on passing in and out of my life, I wonder.
We are all so unique, and so quick to judge others negatively.

I sigh and I yearn
I weep and I laugh.

I'm getting ready to do a move again. If I think of it in context of Torah energy, it makes it more bearable. The events leading to this move to not bespeak of failure, but of change.
Change can be quite foreboding. Even though most of me knows that this is necessary and in all likelihood the most behoovingof any viable choice I can make, I shake and tremble with anxiety and worries. Hey. That doesn't make it wrong, you see. It is the way I am. I have trouble with that, accepting myself for what I am. A lot of it has to do with the unacceptance I get from others.
People see everything from their own perspectives, which are individually unique.
And marvelous, and wonderous because of the endless variety contained within the energy manifestation.
All this was precipitated by an argument with a friend about, of all things, Bruce Springsteen Tickets.
I GOT SOME!!!!!! For PNC in Jersey on Sunday June 25th. I've been trying and trying to get these tix. I'll have to pick them up at the concert, because the Bruce fan who is selling them is picking them up at will call. That means the tickets are kosher. But, my friend somehow got a neurotic personal attitude about it. I don't understand. We're talking BRUCE here. Bruce Springsteen and The Seeger Sessions Band. She knows how I feel. We've spoken about it enough times. But, when you get to the nitty gritty, somehow, the wheel becomes clogged a bit , communication becomes difficult, and a tangent appears which did not previously exist. I understand that she does not feel the same way about Bruce Springsteen and his music as I do.
Ok. That taken into consideration, why do they feel that they must burst your bubble? I was so filled with excitement that the hithertofore impossible had now become manifest. Whoa I was excited when I made the phone call. Burst Bubble. Argument. Defending my actions.
I pretend a lot when I'm listening to other people. That's what makes a good listener. I pretend I'm interested in the conversation. I'm also good at helping people through difficult situtations.
I try to put myself in their shoes.

I have an exciting trip coming up. Seeing houses - a decision will have to be made.

Anxiety and depression, two mental illnesses that plague an enormous number of Americans, are deeply entwined. Anxiety disorders are the most common of all mental disorders and afflict 19.2 million adults, according to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Depression follows closely at more than 18.8 million. In about half of all depression and anxiety cases—the more severe cases, typically—a person who suffers from one will be affected by the other as well.

The combination punch is a lot for anyone to bear. Researchers cite a common “chicken or the egg” syndrome, where it’s unclear which disorder led to the other and complicated the patient’s condition. While this might make the climb out of a psychological hole feel longer and steeper, it’s encouraging to know that health-care professionals are very successful at treating the two in tandem.

The Sting of Stigma

Let’s first be clear about what these conditions are not. In the past 20 years or so, the increase in public education and, to a degree, pharmaceutical advertising has been responsible for legitimizing depression and anxiety in the public eye, but a few antiquated ideas still linger.

“Depression used to be an under-treated disease, in part because people were ashamed of it,” says Dr. Faruk Abuzzahab Sr., who practices with Clinical Psychopharmacology Consultants in Minneapolis. “They thought it was a disgrace to (appear to have) fallen out of your faith or to lose hope or be suicidal. People thought it was their cross in life to bear.”

Similarly, a pervasive perception remains that depression and anxiety stem from some mental weakness or inherent fault in a person’s constitution. People suffering from these disorders are hypersensitive to the world around them and often adapt misconceptions like these as their own. They can be haunted by the familiar refrain, “Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps.”

The sense of inadequacy people can feel while dealing with a mental disorder is further burdened by the notion that they are not even strong enough to rescue themselves.
But by their very definitions, anxiety and depression are marked by incapacitation and a disruption in one’s ability to cope. Inadequacy is not a cause—it’s a symptom.

Work begins on Arctic seed vault

The Arctic seed vault will be built into mountain rock

Norway is starting construction on a "doomsday vault" in the Arctic which is designed to house all known varieties of the world's crops.

Dug into a frozen mountainside on the island of Svalbard, it is hoped the project will safeguard crop diversity in the event of a global catastrophe.

More than 100 countries have backed the vault, which will store seeds, packaged in foil, at sub-zero temperatures.

Prime Ministers from five nations helped lay the cornerstone on Monday.

Premiers from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland attended the ceremony near the town of Longyearbyen, in Norway's remote Svalbard Islands, roughly 1,000 km (620 miles) from the North Pole.

Secure facility

Norway's Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg told the Norwegian news agency NTB: "The vault is of international importance. It will be the only one of its kind; all the other gene banks are of a commercial nature."

Fenced in and guarded, with steel airlock doors, motion detectors and polar bears roaming outside - the concrete facility will, its backers say, be the most secure building of its type in the world.

Norway's Agriculture Minister Terje Riis-Johansen has called the vault a "Noah's Ark on Svalbard."

The vault's purpose is to ensure survival of crop diversity in the event of plant epidemics, nuclear war, natural disasters or climate change; and to offer the world a chance to restart growth of food crops that may have been wiped out.

At temperatures of minus 18C (minus 0.4F), the seeds could last hundreds, even thousands, of years. Even if all cooling systems failed, explained Mr Riis-Johansen, the temperature in the frozen mountain would never rise above freezing due to the permafrost on the mountainside.

Ultimate back-up

The Global Crop Diversity Trust, founded in 2004, will help run the vault, which is planned to open and start accepting seeds from around the world in September 2007. The bank is eventually expected to house some three million seeds.

"This facility will provide a practical means to re-establish crops obliterated by major disasters," Cary Fowler, executive secretary of the Global Crop Diversity Trust, said in a statement.

Fowler, who led a feasibility study on the project, said crop diversity was also threatened by "accidents, mismanagement, and short-sighted budget cuts".

Already, some 1,400 seed banks around the world, most of them national, hold samples of a country's crops. But these banks "can be affected by shutdowns, natural disasters, war or simply a lack of money," said Mr Riis-Johansen.

While Norway will own the vault itself, countries sending seeds will own the material they deposit - much as with a bank safe-deposit box. The Global Crop Diversity Trust will help developing countries pay the cost of preparing and sending seeds.

A Positive Action {hopefully] has been taken by the current administration. They're putting 120,000 square miles of barrier reef in the Northern Hawaiian Islands under protective custody, as it were.

Why do I say hopefully? Because it is news to counter-act the surge of violence in the War. And his ratings are going up. I wonder how history will write this president. The decision immediately sets aside 139,000 square miles of largely uninhabited islands, atolls, coral reef colonies and underwater peaks known as seamounts to be managed by federal and state agencies.

A swathe of Hawaiian islands are to be designated a US national monument - turning the area into the largest marine sanctuary in the world.

President George Bush is expected to announce the plans for the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands on Thursday.

The area, nearly as big as California, supports more than 7,000 species, a quarter of which are unique.

Environmental groups welcomed the decision, although fishing industry bodies have raised concerns.
Endangered species
More than 120,000 square miles (300,000 square kilometres) of reefs, atolls and shallow seas will immediately receive the US's highest level of environmental protection, an unnamed senior administration official said.

The area is just larger than the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park in Australia and is home to the threatened green sea turtle and the endangered Hawaiian monk seal.

The proposed tight restrictions will mean all fishing is phased out within five years and visitors will need permits to snorkel or dive in the area, an official told the Washington Post.

The islands were already being considered for designation as a national marine sanctuary.
But Mr Bush is expected to use his powers under the 1906 National Antiquities Act, which allows the president to give instant protection to important sites, to bypass a year-long process of consultation.

The area contains important habitats for 7,000 species"This is really for the first time saying the primary purpose of this area of the ocean is to be a pristine, or nearly pristine, kind of place," David Festa, director the ocean programme at Environmental Defense, told the New York Times.

"It would take it off the books as a fishing ground. That's really the first time we'll have done that in any kind of sizable area," he said.
Fisheries fears

In an interview with the Washington Post, local Democrat representative Ed Case lauded the president for undertaking "the most revolutionary act by any president, any administration, in terms of marine resources".

The monk seal is the only mammal that depends totally on coral reefs

Although only eight fishing boats are licensed to fish in the area, a local fisheries body says it plans to fight a complete ban on fishing.

"We supported the sanctuary concept but wanted the continuation of our healthy bottom fisheries up there," Kittie Simonds of the Western Pacific Fishery Management Council, told the New York Times.

According to the Pew Charitable Trusts, lobster populations in the area have not recovered from aggressive exploitation in the 1980s and 1990s, although this is now banned.

Recent research also shows signs of over fishing in the islands' remaining fisheries, the organisation says.

Although environmental groups welcomed the news, many remain strongly opposed to other Republican policies on the environment, including a push to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska to oil and gas exploration.

Last night the Sci Fi Channel had a program called, optimistically, 'Countdown to Doomsday' hosted by Matt Lauer. They had some excellent people , scientists and such. One scientist said, the singularity is near. Ha.

Mars and Saturn aren't super-bright, but they will catch your eye after dark because they are so close together. The two planets are converging, forming a tight pair in the western sky. Look for them just after sunset on the evenings of June 15th through 17th. The view is best on June 17th, when Saturn and Mars are closest together, but it's also fun watching them converge on the two nights before.PHOTO-OP: June 15th is special because, en route to Saturn, Mars will glide in front of the Beehive star cluster. Hawking to write children's book

The Hawkings are currently on a six-day visit to Hong Kong

Physicist Stephen Hawking and his daughter are to write a science book for children which will be "a bit like Harry Potter", but without the magic.

They aim to explain theoretical physics in an accessible way to youngsters.

Professor Hawking became famous for his bestseller A Brief History of Time, which attempted to simplify cosmology, the Big Bang and black holes.

His daughter Lucy said their forthcoming project would be aimed at people like her own eight-year-old son.

"It is a story for children, which explains the wonders of the universe," she said.

She did not provide any further details, nor a likely publication date.

Professor Hawking - a professor of mathematics at the University of Cambridge - has sold more than 10 million copies of A Brief History of Time since it was first published in 1988.

Bush pledges to help Iraq succeed

The new security plan is the toughest since the invasion of 2003
US President George W Bush has pledged to do "what it takes" to help the new Iraqi government to succeed.
His comments came in a news conference following a surprise trip to Baghdad on Tuesday, where he met new Prime Minister Nouri Maliki.
"I saw first-hand the strength of his character and his deep determination to succeed," Mr Bush told reporters.
He also announced details of tough new measures in Baghdad in an effort to win back control of the city's streets.
Some 40,000 Iraqi and US troops were put on the streets just after dawn as part of a crackdown ordered by Mr Maliki.

A Slice of Consciousness

We're having Alberto, the first named storm of the 2006 hurricane season, here in Central Florida today. It is raining, but not that hard. We need rain to put the fires out. Florida has been burning for a couple of months now. So, Alberto is doing its job, raining on the land.
I just got a hurricane alert. Let me give a quick look-see. They're telling me that Tropical Storm Alberto might be a hurricane.
I can feel the millibar pressure in my head. It feels weird. It feels like I'm wearing a too tight hat. A red one. Maybe a blue one. Or tan. Definitely not green.
Well, if I've learned anything by being here in Florida I've learned about hurricanes. I'll have to refresh my memory. Memory is strange. It seems to remember what it wants to remember and forget what it wants to forget. Silly that. The lower the millibars, the stronger the hurricane.

The Rain feels lovely today. There's been too much heat. That's why everything is burning.

I went to the store. Among other things I needed a pencil sharpener. I bought an Electric Pencil Sharpner, as opposed to a non-electric pencil sharpener, and a Red toaster oven. It was on sale.
Everything got wet.
That's because it is raining.

I'm changing up on my blogging a bit. I won't be doing kabbalah for a while. All the Religious Dogma is Driving Me Mad. All the sin and evil and punishment that you have to get through in order to get a mere glimpse of the inner secrets is making me crazy. A change of perspective is needed. I cannot let myself get warped by the religious dogma.

I thought about doing some creative writing here, but decided against it.
Blogging has taken its own form. It has become a type of personal journalism.
One's own personal awareness. One's own slice of life, slice of consciousness.
Also, I don't trust anybody.

to do some bibliophile blogging

I just sharpened some pencils. The Electric Pencil Sharpener works well. It is black and heavy. I love Pencils. I love Pencil Sharpeners. Just one of those things.

I had a conversation with an old friend in Cornwall yesterday. OOOO did we go at it. Everything. We talked about everything. We were talking books and Springsteen and Politics and Past and Now and What Might Be. Bless Ian. We talked books and literature. Ian recommended one to me. "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. He said it was a bibliophile's book. Interconnectedly enough, the book was on my bookshelf, unremembered, unread.
That's the novel I'm reading now. I always have to be reading a novel. Non fiction studying is something else all together.
It is a most wonderful book. The print is a little small, but.... I'll manage. Age.
Another thing.
I'm alive.
Today, actually it isn't the date but it is the day because it was a Monday {I never got the hang of Mondays - can you tell I've just finished reading Douglas Adams?} that I had my cardiac event, supposedly died whilst having CPR done on me for about 10 minutes. 9 years. I made it. I have to think about it. That ol' memory strangeness again. I'm alive. I'm blogging.

I admit I did make the choice of solitude. I didn't expect it to be this lonely.
I've healed on many levels. Florida has been very good for my heart.

Here's a story that floated my boat.
I've always been interested in rocks and stones. My father taught me about it. I have rocks and stone and crystals all over everywhere.
I'm not being religious, I'm being metaphoric now.
There is a myth that when the consiousness of humanity transcends the material, one of the signs is that the stones will once again speak. Actually, I've heard stones speak. In Cornwall mostly. And Stonehenge. Those stones. And little stones. But not in Voice.Anyway

Ancient rocks 'built by microbes'

The Pilbara structures were first described almost 30 years ago

Odd-shaped rocks in the Pilbara region of Western Australia offer compelling evidence they were built by microbes 3.43 billion years ago, scientists say.

The structures, known as stromatolites, could only have taken the forms they have if bacteria had been present, a Sydney-led team tells Nature journal.

The rocks' origin is disputed, with some claiming purely chemical processes could have made them.

But the Nature study suggests the biological explanation is the simplest.

"For all these shapes to be formed a-biologically would have required highly unusual and unexpected chemical processes to occur simultaneously in this [one location]," said Abigail Allwood from the Australian Centre for Astrobiology.

"It just becomes ridiculous to support that hypothesis; especially when the biological explanation is so readily acceptable."

Ms Allwood and colleagues have made an extensive survey of a 10km (six miles) stretch of land not far from the town of Marble Bar.

The area is now well inland but shows clear evidence of having been covered by a shallow sea in the ancient past.

The researchers have detailed an array of unusual sedimentary structures - seven clear types in all. Some look like upside-down ice cream cones; others resemble egg cartons.

These laminated structures have been described as stromatolites - the rock piles that in more recent settings are known to have been built by mats of microbes capturing grains and sticking them together.

But the Pilbara structures, found 30 years ago in a rock formation called the Strelley Pool Chert, are controversial.

Claims for individual microfossils of the original organisms within Pilbara's stromatolites have been challenged; and some scientists prefer an entirely non-biogenic explanation for the structures' creation.

These dissenters believe the piles resulted from the chemical precipitations that occurred around undersea volcanic vents.

Mars strategy

Allwood's response has been to describe the complexity of shapes and explain how these forms can be linked to different environmental niches in a shallow-sea reef setting.

"We have found an ecosystem-scale remnant of the early biosphere. It's not just a couple of individual or isolated fossils or dubious structures; it is in an entire, pretty well intact, section of hundreds of thousands of stromatolites in a reef ecosystem," Ms Allwood told the BBC News website.

"With that we now gain insight into the conditions that nurtured early life - the biological responses to different environmental processes."

The variety points to an entire ecosystem, say the scientists

The Pilbara stromatolites are not the oldest claim for life on Earth.

Some researchers argue that rocks at Isua in Greenland show the imprint of life at least 3.75 billion years ago.

At that time, these rocks were also on the sea bed. Thin layers of black sediment, separated by distinct layers of volcanic ash, look like they could be composed of the debris of ocean-dwelling microbes.

There are no fossil forms, but the nature of the carbon is consistent with the idea it was processed by living organisms. There are no known older remnants of the Earth's surface than the Greenland rocks - which probably makes Isua the closest science can ever get to the first life.

Researchers are keen to trace the story of the first microbes on Earth because it should provide clues in the hunt for possible life elsewhere in the Solar System.

Mars rovers should look out for stromatolite-like structures

The type of study conducted on the Pilbara stromatolites might, for example, help scientists interpret similar structures on Mars, should rovers sent to the planet ever come across them.

Commenting on this dimension, Dr Ian Crawford, a planetary scientist at Birkbeck College, London, UK, said: "Searching for ancient stromatolite-like structures such as those reported by Allwood et al should certainly be high on the list of future exploration strategies.

"However, given the amount of fieldwork performed by Allwood and colleagues, it must be doubtful whether purely robotic exploration of Mars would be able compellingly to identify such features in the field, and in the longer term effective Martian palaeontology may necessitate human exploration of the planet."

I'm re-reading Douglas Adams while we are in Numbers (Bamidbar).
Watch out for those thinkie thoughts.
It seems quite obvious to me that the convergence of the parallel universes, the alternate dimensions and the continuum is starting.

There are a lot of Mercury energy manifestations during this month. Communication tends to get muddled. Interesting.

I've been looking for the night sky map.
Found it. So I'll be posting skymaps. I just wanted to be sure that it was Jupiter I've been seeing. I can also see Mars dimly. I'm very attuned to seeing Mars. And there is something else that is glowing yellowish up there. I love to look up at the night sky.

The Planets
Mercury
Mercury is only a few degrees high 20 to 30 minutes after sunset, and even though it shines at magnitude -0.5 it will probably require optical aid to be spotted.

Binoculars will help you find it, and a telescope will show the planet's 6 arcseconds-wide disk, 65-percent illuminated.

Mercury never strays far from the Sun in the sky because its orbit lies entirely inside Earth's orbit.
The best time to look at the planet is when it is at or near maximum elongation (meaning that it is as far from the Sun as it ever gets) and when the ecliptic is most nearly vertical with respect to Earth's horizon.
Maximum elongations happen quite often with Mercury because it travels around the Sun so fast, but ideal observing conditions are rare.
The next greatest elongation of Mercury will occur on June 20th, when the planet will be 24.9 degrees east from the Sun.
However, this will not be a favorable apparition and the planet will stay pretty close to the horizon all month.Finder map - 9 P.M. local daylight time, looking west.

Venus
{Venus is the Morning Star now. I only see her when she's the Evening Star. Not up that early these days, although I will get up to see her now that I know :) }

Venus is visible in the early morning, about 15 degrees above the eastern horizon.
It shines brightly at magnitude -3.8, so you won't need any optical aid to admire the yellow-white planet.
If you do have a telescope, wait until sunrise or a little after to take a look; before then Venus's disk is nearly dazzling against the darker sky.
What you will see in the eyepiece is a barley out-of-round dot of dazzling light, only 14 arcseconds in diameter. But what other kind of telescopic observations of Venus can be made?Unfortunately, almost none. The planet is completely veiled by clouds, and in fact this is why Venus appears so bright. Its dense cloud layer reflects most of the sunlight shining down on the planet, making it impossible for any surface details to be seen.Finder map - 5 A.M. local daylight time, looking east.

Mars
The "red planet" (really orange-gold) appears quite low in the west as soon as it becomes dark.

It glows dimly at magnitude 1.7, almost three times fainter than Saturn, close to its upper left.

Don't expect much from Mars in your telescope, the planet's disk is less than 5 arcseconds wide, too small to show features in most instruments. A medium-size to large telescope wit top-quality optics, a night of excellent atmospheric seeing, and lots of time at the eyepiece are the keys to making out some detail on the planet.
Look out for dark surface markings, the "maria" and "terrae" named by great early Mars observers such as Giovanni Schiaparelli. The most prominent of these markings is Syrtis Major, an ancient basaltic region which extends some 1,500 kilometers north from the planet's equator and spans 1,000 kilometers from west to east.Finder map - 10 P.M. local daylight time, looking west.

Jupiter

Brilliant Jupiter rises a little before 6 P.M. local daylight time, and by 11 P.M. it is high enough for excellent telescopic views.
At magnitude -2.4 it is the brightest point of light in the sky and you should have no trouble in locating it, some 40 degrees above the southern horizon.
Jupiter's disk is the most generous that a planet's can be: fully illuminated, almost 45 arcseconds wide, and - when observed high in a sky on a steady night with a good scope - decorated with numerous bands and other intricate details. From mid-northern latitudes you can even watch one full rotation of the planet, with the cloud features of every longitude displayed, during a single night.Finder map - 11 P.M. local daylight time, looking south.

Trying to keep my head on straight. Reading Douglas Adams helps me to do that. I had to read "The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul", found it was one of the books that got ruined. Had "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency on the bookshelf. Just finished that one. Eddies sofa is in there. I'd forgotten. Dirk Gently believes in the fundamental interconnectdness of all things. Dirk Gently knows that the quantum world is more real than reality. So do I. :D Now I'm reading "The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul". Its the Thor thing. Don't ask.

Mini-planet systems get stranger
Mini planetary systems may orbit cosmic objects that are 100 times smaller than our Sun, research suggests.
Discs of gas and dust, the ingredients needed to create such systems, have been seen circling these relatively small objects, dubbed "planemos".
If the discs were capable of evolving larger aggregations of material, it would blur the definition of the word "planet", scientists said.
The work was presented at the American Astronomical Society meeting in Canada.
Cosmic newborns
The study is based on observations from European Southern Observatory (ESO) telescopes. It looked at a number of recently identified planemos (an unofficial term sometimes used to describe planetary mass objects).
Located about 450 light-years away in a star-forming region, four of the objects are just a few million years old, making them cosmic "newborns". They have masses between five and 15 times that of Jupiter.
But unlike Jupiter, these objects are floating through space without an accompanying star.
Infrared emission reveals the planemos are circled by dusty discs, which scientists believe could evolve into planets, comets and asteroids over time, in much the same way our own Solar System's planets are believed to have formed billions of years ago.
"Now that we know of these planetary mass objects with their own little infant planetary systems, the definition of the word 'planet' has blurred even more," said astronomer Ray Jayawardhana, from the University of Toronto, Canada, and lead author of the study.
"In a way, the new discoveries are not too surprising - after all, Jupiter must have been born with its own disc, out of which its bigger moons formed."
Beyond imagination
In separate study, researchers revealed that a companion body to a young brown dwarf (a failed star), designated 2M1207 and located 170 light-years away, was also surrounded by a disc.
Scientists had already detected a disc around the brown dwarf, but the new results suggest smaller planets or asteroids could also form in the material circling the planetary companion as well.
This planetary mass companion - it is about eight times the size of our Jupiter - was the first-ever exoplanet to have been imaged directly by a telescope.
"The pair probably formed together, like a petite stellar binary," explained lead author Subhanjoy Mohanty from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, "instead of the companion forming in the disc around the brown dwarf, like a star-planet system."
Professor Jayawardhana, who also worked on the study, added: "The diversity of worlds out there is truly remarkable. Nature often seems more prolific than our imagination."
